Meet & Greet VSF-Suisse: Our Events 2016

VSF- Suisse, 30.08.2016

The support of Swiss veterinarians and related professions is a crucial requirement for enabling Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Suisse to fulfill its project activities in Africa. That’s one of the reasons we are keen on maintaining personal contacts with our supporters. We are excited to get to know all of you a little better each time we meet you at one of our events.

This year, we had the chance to meet many of the Swiss veterinarians at the 4th Annual Swiss Vet Days (STT), that took place from 11th to 13th May 2016 in Lausanne. There, we had Ethiopian coffee together and could inform interested veterinarians about our projects. Virbac Switzerland Corporation got a puzzle competition going for the benefit of our campaign “Vaccinate for Africa”. We went home with an entirely positive impression of this event.

On May 28th 2016, our Board of Directors invited VSF-Suisse’s members to our annual General Assembly, which took place at Dählhölzli animal park this year. After having had coffee and traditional Swiss Gipfeli together, our board members Ueli Kihm and Andreas Waldvogel, and some of our co-workers, informed our guests about daily business. Our program manager for West Africa and Ethiopia, Nicole Litschgi, gave us an update about current projects in Ethiopia, and our program manager for the Horn of Africa, Frédérique Darmstaedter, did a presentation together with Junior Program Officer Sara Imbach. They talked about the hard work in crisis-ridden South Sudan. Head of Finance Marcel Perret showed the current numbers behind our daily work, and Executive Director Daniel Bolomey informed everyone on the strategies and planning of the current as well as the coming business year. Of course our Annual Report was ready for the audience to take home and indulge in. Discussions kept going throughout our lunch at Dählhölzli animal park restaurant. Finally, the General Assembly found its relaxing completion with a guided tour through the animal park in the afternoon.

We had the chance to meet some of the „Friends of VSF-Suisse“ on August 25th 2016 at a guided tour through the Federal Palace in Berne. VSF-Suisse’s president Ueli Kihm got that event going, which was organized in collaboration with the alumni of the Vetsuisse faculties in both Berne and Zurich. Three National Councils and Councils of States led us through the center of the world renowned Swiss direct democracy and told us stories about daily business there. The evening was completed by a standing buffet that gave us the chance to get to know each other better and engage in deeper discussion.

You can browse through photos of all three events in our picture gallery. We are looking forward to meeting our “Friends”, members, sponsors, and other interested parties at the next event! Here’s the upcoming date (details will follow): On October 6th there will be an exciting event with our Country Director of Ethiopia, Kebadu Simachew Belay, at the animal hospital in Berne!
